Game Night at Mikalas Dorm

Jane, our FLAG cordinator drove up from Indianapolis to help us host our International Game Night. She came prepared for several rounds of "Minute to Win It Games."
The object of this game was to place a spaghetti noodle inside the hole of a pop can and carefully carry it to the table. Then proceed to stack the cans in a pyramid. Couple with the best score wins!
 Miguel and John doing well!
 Sorting skittles....
 "Go Morgan!"
 SUCCESS!

It's difficult to tell from the picture but they have begun work on the girls dorm for next year!!! :)
Such sweet buddies!

Yannic cooks for our German Night

I'm always amazed at the amount of talent these International boys possess. Yannic cooked a lovely chicken  dish for us on Sunday.
 The plate
The chicken was served over noodles and cooked in a cream sauce! Great work Yannic!

This year we have three Chinese students in the dorm. Pictured above is Arthur, John, and Fan [American names]. They were graciously invited to a Chinese Feast to celebrate their major holiday- the Chinese New Year -Feb 10th. :)

Santiago celebrated his Birthday on Valentine's Day. His lovely host family brought a cake over to celebrate. Such a sweet boy!

Costi Cooks

Last week was Italian Night in the Dorm. Costi made Pasta Carbonara!
The dish is essentially pasta coated in an egg sauce with bacon and cheese!
Arthur assisted in the Kitchen!

Bon Appetit!!

Updates from Mikalas Dorm

Timber Ridge Ski Trip

Bruno's host father, Rick Weaver graciously offered to take some of our International Students Skiing on Jan 27th. They went to Timber Ridge Ski Resort in Michigan and spent the entire day on the sloops. Some boys even attempted snowboarding for the first time! The weather was a crisp 35 degrees and the sun was shining!

We have a wonderful team of friends and family who often help with the Dorm. Travis' father offered to take 6 of the boys to Indianapolis last week to watch the Indianapolis Pacers take on the Chicago Bulls.

To fully emerge themselves in the American Culture some of the boys....watched the Superbowl! The verdict is still out on whether or not they enjoyed their experience but the potato skins appetizer was surely demolished!
